The 2. SS Panzer-Division Das Reich was a division founded and part of the Waffen-SS to fight for Germany and for Adolf Hitler in World War II. They were part of the Waffen-SS.

Das Reich has a motto was: 

"Meine Ehre heißt Treue"
(My Honour is Loyalty)

History

The 2nd Panzer Division Das Reich was an SS panzer division which served during World War Two.The 2nd Panzer division fought during the Battle of France and many major battles on the Eastern Front.Including the Battle of Prokhorovka against the 5th Guards Tank Army.It was then trasfrered to the western front, where it fought in Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge

War Crimes

The 2nd SS Panzer Division commited many war crimes throughout the war on multiple fronts.

Murder of Jews in Minsk

During September 1941, a Das Reich support unit helped a Nazi Extermination Group slaughter 920 Jews.

Tulle Massacre

On the 9th of June, after a unsuccessful FTP offensive, the 2nd SS Panzer hanged 99 men and deported 149 men back to Germany from the french city of Tulle.As a reprisal for the losses taken during the fighting.

Oradour-sur-Glane

The residents of Oradour-sur-Glane, a little french village near the city of Limoges, were brutaly massacred by the Das Reich Division on the 10th June 1944.The men of the village were packed into six sheds and barns, which were then burned.The woman and children were put in the church which was set alight. Any who tried to escape were gunned down.Altogether, 642 inhabitants were killed.6 people survived, and 20 people fled when the SS appeared.
