The Malmedy Massacre Trials were help between May 1946 to June 1946, to try the German Waffen SS soldiers accused of the Malmedy Massacre of December 17, 1944. It had great attention because of the war crimes.

The trial was held in the Dauchau Concentration camp. After a long trial 73 members were convicted.

43 were sentenced to death by hanging, including Peiper, 22 were sentenced to life, 2 were sentenced for 20 years, 1 was sentenced to 15 years and 5 were sentenced to 10 years.

However, evidence later emerged that methods borrowed from the Gestapo had been used to obtain confessions. This resulted in the death sentences being commuted to life imprisonment.[2]
